New Painting

Ok, even i like this sweet sheep painting...
she still needs a little work, but it will have to wait until next weekend...

back to work tomorrow for me!
gotta pay for these freakin expensive canvases!

I actually painted her twice... I could only find a small canvas at AC Moore
( i wanted a square shape)
 and none at Michaels...
and i really wanted to do her bigger...
but 20 x 20 was all i could find in a square and i couldn't wait to paint her, so i just went ahead..

Here is the smaller one, a slight difference in color... a little more brownish, the larger one is more gray
20 x 20

here is the small one hanging at my friends shop, still wet paint and unsigned

wouldn't she be wonderful in a chippy white frame

Once i painted her in 20 x 20, i was like DRAT, should've done her bigger... so i went searching and found a bigger square canvas at Hobby Lobby...

used my iphone to get a 40% off coupon

that canvas is $50.00 bucks originally!

Here she is painted again on the bigger canvas, with me holding up a rose from my garden,

don't you think it would be pretty to paint this pink rose somewhere on the painting with her?

me holding a rose up to her ear...

Once i finish her, (i'm gonna mess with her hair a little more...)

I'll probably take her to my photographer/printer and get a special photo taken of her so i can make giclee prints...
meaning i can reproduce her on canvas for purchase...
If you want to know more about giclee prints the link below will take you to a place on my website that explains

giclee prints are pretty nice

i can actually have a fine art print of her made, and paint a rose right on the canvas if i want... or little bluets or violets or anything i want to paint to personalize her...!

you know it would be fun to weave flowers all in her crazy fur!

my hair looks something like that in the morning, especially my bangs, they go every which way

and finally here she is, mostly finished,  on a 30 x 30 canvas with the paint still drying and unsigned

"Repose"

oh yeah, and no roses
...yet...

...the end...

  4. i love the 20x20 girl. i think you're on to something with this close up which makes the painting (for me) read very modern and young. i think lovers of modern decor, for example, might really dig the style because of its simplicity, texture, and monochromatic look. i can see it in a very spare and edited loft space with modern furnishings. this would bring a ton of warmth and charm to a space like that.

    BRAVO, m'lady!

  11. Gosh she is beautiful, you are such a talented painter, I want to reach out and touch her wool, you can almost feel the texture. Gorgeous painting Cindy. I look at your work and photos of roses and know I must get back into my painting but somehow I am stuck and spending too much time on the computer in between caring for my mum. I am hoping the desire will come back soon.

  24. Hi Cindy,
I know there would be a market for your paintings. You are very talented. I would love to own one of your paintings. When you have the reproduced giclee
prints will you be offering them for sale? Is there a shop that will carry them and ship to Canada?

  33. Adore the larger in the gray and white tones. Of course I paint mostly large scale!! All of us artists need a patron!! In my Area Creative Coldsnow always has great Canvas buys; 1. get 2 free etc, and they are high quality. I believe you can order online.

  34. Cindy,

Okay, I think I've caught up on the posts I've missed.
This painting is so so sweet. There was a time when I was going to do Amelia's room in a pastoral design (inspired by Psalm 23- The Lord is my shepherd...) but I couldn't find any pictures or artwork to fit the style and color palette I wanted.
This painting would have been perfect!!!
What a sweet expression you've created on that fuzzy sheep's face, and adding a soft sweet garland of roses on her head would be such a romantic touch for those wanting a little pink.
I, personally, would take it just like you've painted it. It's perfect.

  35. Hey sweet girl! :) Thanks for your comment on my window seat....it is going to be SO much more comfy when I get all the fabric on the seat and pillows on there too. I can't wait! :) (it's still pretty comfy even without them! lol)
I hope I can figure out what's going on with windows live writer too...it's driving me bonkers. It's a windows tool for bloggers. It is SO much easier to work with than blogger!! I mean seriously, I can write at least 5 blog posts to bloggers 1 when it's up and running right. I've gotta figure out whats going on with it! :-o
It's 100 degrees here today...I am staying inside until my date tonight with my honey!! :)
    Love ya

  36. I am IN LOVE with your sheep girl! Not a thing attractive about this admission but - I'm really envious of your talent. I've been trying to get the hang of watercolor and acrylics and fight the good fight. And love it. But what you do with oils is tempting me to give it a go. Don't know the first thing. Perhaps ... you might teach??

Thanks for writing this blog -- it's a delight.
