New Painting...

Here is a new painting ready to go to a good home.  It's $125.00 and it's about 10" x 24",

i'm at work right now so i just guessed the size,  it's not very big... the photo makes it look bigger than it is

Nothin fancy, just a simple little meadow, one of my favorite things ...

Ok, She's Painted White, ... For Now

So here she is painted white and blue inside, so far i've been through 3 different blues, they all became so dark inside the cupboard, so i had to go lighter and lighter... and then lighter...

Here is how it all fits in with the whole scheme... i had to tuck myself in an itty bitty corner to take this...

I put alot of silver in it at first, but didn't like it... so now....  i have to figure out how to make it pretty inside and still be functional, plus i need the storage for wine glasses...

I'm gonna go ask Kim at Starshine Chic, how to pull it together...
she'll totally know how to make this look good...

I haven't distressed it yet, and i'm still thinking about a light gray ... god, i'm never freakin satisfied!

blurry photo, sorry...

Ummm , since i stayed on that subject for about 32 seconds, lets move on, wouldn't want to linger...

I discovered you can buy faux cupcakes...
so for some completely insane reason i was sure i had to have some because what is more wonderful than perpetual icing and chocolate and cake...

I even want to do a painting of a hot fudge sundae one day, because just looking at stuff like that makes me happy..

I know what's going to happen, my daughter is going to come in the house, and find these and take a big bite out of one...

I have a faux pear that has permanent teeth marks in it... i'm totally serious,
It was Ellie again...
but she still likes fruit...

probably should put a warning sign on these ...

and hey, look at at this, a rose from the garden totally color coordinates with the cupcakes... !

I didn't plan that...

Beeswax Candles and Pink Cupcakes

An old candelabra i found at one of the vintage shops in town.  One day if i ever get married..    again...   this will be all lit up at the wedding...  I put 12 beeswax candles in it, because when you burn beeswax it emits negative ions into the air, which sounds bad because of the word "negative".  Negative ions actually make you feel wonderful, and are good for you.  I need me some negative ions big time...

when i look at this photo online, that crooked candle in front is driving me nuts, i just want to reach in the photo and straighten it...

you know how when you go to the beach you feel good inside and out?  well, that's because the ocean is creating negative ions all over the place...

I decided to make some pink cupcakes, just because they're pretty... they are strawberry cupcakes... with strawberry and cream cheese frosting.

My daughter, who is 21 came by my house when i was at work, and took a huge bite out of one of them, and then put the  other half with a big bite out of it back on the platter...
Who does that?!!!

I am sure at some point in life i told her that you don't put half chewed up food back on a platter...

My kids totally freak me out, that's why i need negative ions, and pink cupcakes and a psychiatrist and valium and vodka...
well... not all at once, but at different times during the day..

Beeswax candle have a wonderful golden glow, and the room smells like honeycombs when you blow them out...

and I actually don't mind that much that Ellie took a bite out of a cupcake and put it back, i'm glad she was around to taste them...

I Found One!

I finally found a cupboard I can love....

Ok, now here's where I would love suggestions... because you guys know stuff...

You're seeing this in it's roughest form, i threw some silver stuff in it, and draped some toile fabric inside just to get ideas... so it's kinda messy right now...

Should i paint it white and frenchy blue inside,

or should i paint it a darker blue like this cupbaord that costs $650.00

or should i line it with some funky fabric like this... and paint it gray?

Here is where it all started with a hutch from Target... which i knew was temporary...

Then i scored this cool sideboard for free... and painted it like 10 different colors... there is a whole blog post about that  here...
I liked it ok...

But what i really wanted was THIS....  sigh...

So... last week i printed a copy of this photo of
the perfect and wonderful cupboard that would make my life complete...
and put it in my wallet ...

and within a week,  i found this...

my favorite friend took me to this cool wonderful antique/junk place that had stuff everywhere... and i looked in this one room, and there she stood....
- choirs of angels here -

so i was pretty sure the price would be like 300.00, and i knew if it was that much, i couldn't buy it no way...
but the really weird and nice guy who was there and who spit on me when he talked to me, called the vendor, and said that since he needed the space, he would sell it for $160.00.
I was like SCORE!  SOLD...

Of course that was still alot on my totally lame budget, but i decided i would try to sell my sideboard to try and recoup it...

because i can totally justify pretty much anything if i really want to buy something really bad...

So anyway, i took it home, carried my sideboard out into the front yard and put a for sale sign on it
and the next morning the doorbell rang,
and a cute lady asked how much, and i said $150.00, and she bought it right then and there!  So minimal guilt on the purchase... AWESOME !

the end

oh wait, not the end yet...

check out these amazing alabaster grapes... they are at my friends shop, they are $95.00 and i think they're cool as anything, so i wanted to show you guys, in case anyone might like to call the shop and buy them...

Updated Chairs, and a Great Old Chippy Frame

I found these old brown chairs at Habitat for Humanity for practically nothing,
I already have some pretty chairs that I love,
but I couldn't resist these because they were such a bargain, and i knew they'd be so much better painted...
so, of course they came home with me...

Here is the before -

And Here is the after...

I just sprayed them with some primer, and then sprayed them with some paint, it was so easy, and since it's been 110 degrees here, they dried in like 3 seconds
They still need distressing, and maybe waxing

I stapled on some gingham fabric I already had...
I'm a ho for big gingham checks...

I love chairs like this where you can just take off the seat and staple on fabric,
you can change it all out as often as you want...
like if you want a pink girly theme, or a crazy floral theme, or a striped theme,

it's great for people like me who want to change the color of everything in my house every time I see another cool color or fabric one of my brilliant blogger friends are using...

I thought I'd show you Mommy and Baby in a wonderful old chippy frame...
There is actually some old lettered burlap stretched in the frame...
so I stuck the frame on a nail,
then i put a little nail through the burlap and hung the canvas on that... I'm really slack that way, I'm pretty much fine with whatever gets results
I dont' care how imperfect it is...
they're are like 100 thousand nail holes in my walls...

Ok, so...last but not least, I just thought I'd show you what happens when I take Mr. Fracturedfairytale to Hobby Lobby with me...

He put flat round pillows on his head,  wore a crown, pretended to cut his hair with gigantic sissors, picked up a big styrofoam ball and pretended it was a bowling ball

what else is a guy to do when a woman takes him to a place like hobby lobby...!???

anyway, he was really good natured about it all,

so i bought him some Jelly Bellys...

Pretty Vintage Glasses

I found a set of these sweet glasses at the thrift store.  Goblets and plain old drinking glasses.  They have roses etched on them.  I cannot resist a glass that feels good in my hand, and for some reason the vintage glasses are the best.

Here are a few I've collected...

I really like this one with the lady in white ....

can you see her, she has a little parasol...

What's so cool about this size is that i can put a drink in them, and they fit perfectly in the cup holder in my car... simple things like that really make me happy....

This glass isn't vintage, but i LOVE it... I found it at the thrift store too.  If anyone out there knows where i can find more of these, please let me know!

I love that it says Vino on it... Anything that says Vino on it has to be good.

I guess this is just a simple story about good drinking glasses

I like a certain type of coffee cup too...
But that's another story for another day....

Snooping Around the Bedroom, and Good Finds at Habitat

I've been messing around in my bedroom, moving things around,  and i decided to make a plate wall on this big empty wall space...

The wall color was here when we moved in, i kind of like the color, but i'm debating on painting it more of a gray,   or maybe a soft blue gray, or a gorgeous soft peachy pink...
well, i guess you know how all that goes...
for me deciding on a wall color is pretty much impossible..

here you can see my basket loaded with fake hydrangeas, there are actually some real dried ones mixed in... and you can see into the dining room...

what i'd really like to put on this big empty wall is this!  god, this is so pretty,  i think i got this photo from the COTE DE TEXAS blog...

I have this old green velvet sofa in the bedroom too, it has one broken leg. I put it caddy corner on the wall.... the bed is centered on the wall to the right, it would be cool if i could slipcover it... I also need an oval rug, but i can't find a pretty one...
I really want to kind of redo this room, but i'm just not sure where to go with it.... you know how when you look at something so long you can't see it anymore

Of course, everything ends up piled on this sofa, and you don't even want to know about the pile of stuff behind it...

Ok, changing the subject...
there were some good finds at Habitat for Humanity this week... check out this vintage crystal chandy for $15.00!!!  I think I'm gonna hang it in the bathroom... I wish you could see it held up to the light...  the crystals are so bright and pretty...

there were 4 of these chairs, and i don't need them at all,
so... of course i bought them...

I'm in the process of painting them white...

they have really really ugly blue seats, but that's super easy to fix...

They're not that great now, but I bet if Miss Mustard Seed got a hold of them, you wouldn't even recognize them when she was through...
I love the little frenchy dining chairs I already have, so why did i buy these...
because i can't walk away from something with so much potential!
i must think i have a shop where i can sell them...

these were there too, and it was all i could do to leave them ...
they were $15.00 each, and i was outta money...

One final thing,
look at this awesome old iron table my friend with the antique shop found... of course i stuffed it in the car and hauled  it home and tortured MrFracturedFairytale and made him drag it in the living room, only to see that it was too tall, and then drag it back out to the car...

But you know I had to try....

To him this looked like an old piece of junk run over by a car...
it actually was backed over by a car... the frame is bent
but that sure doesn't stop me!

Have you ever noticed that guys are really sweet, they have no idea what we're doing...
they pretty much just want us to be happy

does your guy ever say, "I just want you to be happy honey" ?
mine does - he's alot nicer than me...

thank goodness for testosterone, THAT's a hormone i can work with ;)
