Before and After, and After, and After......

Ok, so here is what it looks like now, i imagine this will last about 5 minutes, because i have changed this sideboard 32 times....

It all started with a black hutch from Target, which was fine, except I always knew it would be temporary, and i'm not a great lover of particle board furniture, but it worked ok until i found something else..

Then i scored this cool sideboard for free...!

So i decided to copy Miss Mustard Seed, (look at the dresser thingy in her dining room... omg it's so cool), so i painted the sideboard blue and white to be just like her... oh brother, like that's possible...

so here it is in various stages of painting and messing with it....

(here is where i tried to copy "Simply Me" the most beautiful blog ever... by having lots and lots of flowers and roses casually tossed in a bucket)
her photos will make you want to kill yourself they are so pretty
...

so i tried distressing it, and rubbing dark paint in the creases and i added glass knobs to the top drawers, and it was ok, but something about it bothered me, i think you know how that is... it just keeps bothering you until you do something impulsive, like fling it out the front door. it just seemed to "countryfied" to me...
(
i don't even know if contryfied is a real word)
plus i wanted it shiny so i painted polyurethane on it, which i thought was polycrylic, but it wasn't and then it kind of yellowed...

Soooooo, then i tried painting it a grayish brown, well that looked boring with the brown top, so then i painted it all white again, which was too white,
even my 23 year old son said,...
"mom look at it, it's too white",
so then i painted it Benjamin Moore "linen white" , which seemed much better, and i like it better, but..... it's kinda boring

plus i'm not sure if it's legal to put that many coats of paint on anything really... i mean, how many times can you change your mind and keep adding paint... is there actually a limit where the piece becomes one ooozing blob of paint that never dries ...

Then i decided the framed burlap thing hanging over it, wasn't working, so i hung my favorite meadow painting over it... but then i didn't know where to put the cool burlap thing, so i set it up over my mantel... but now the painting on the mantel has to go, and i stole the painting now hanging over the sideboard from my bedroom, so now there's a big empty void on the wall in there.... GGGAAAAAHHHH
(that basket underneath is where we put our recycling)then i got distracted and tried to nail one of those corbels sitting
on the sideboard, in the entry to the living room,
and while i was looking for a screw... saw my favorite rose...and took a picture of of it to show you guys, it's called "pearly gates", it's a climber, and you have to get one!
i talk to it everyday and tell it how pretty it is...

and took a picture the front of my house with the white iris blooming.....

and then took a photo of my living room because the lighting was good...
and at that point decided i need to repaint all the walls a pretty gray

and Finally decided that this picture i saved from a little antique shop selling this hutch, (WHICH WAS SOLD OF COURSE !), is all i ever really wanted anyway...
and i'm pretty sure my life would be complete if i could have this hutch... that's how shallow i am

So this my friends, is total adult Attention Deficit Disorder and is the perfect selling point for hiring an interior decorator for a consultation, even if it is just for one hour, worth every penny i'm sure!

and i'm still not satisfied with the cool, free, sideboard

Just Some Pretty Stuff...

Everything is pretty everywhere right now... Spring is just heavenly... the air is fragrant and scented with flowers... and little petals from blossoms are drifting all around and landing in one's hair, sometimes it's like a dream how wonderful it is, and it's almost hard to bear it's so beautiful...

Pink geraniums on the front porch...

Bunnie with "Miss Kim"

Sweet little Piping Boy hanging out with the iris...

These photos don't really teach anything, redo anything, or fix anything... I just think they're so pretty. I was messing around in my yard, and plucked a blossom off this sweet little "Miss Kim" lilac that we recently planted... and went in the house and dropped the blossom on top of the gauzy jacket thingy i was wearing, and saw how pretty it all looked, so i took like a thousand photos of "Miss Kim" and my lacy thing. I have "Miss Kim" on a blouse, "Miss Kim" on my mantel, "Miss Kim" beside a bunny, "Miss Kim" beside some chippy wood.
Is there something wrong with me?

Once i had my fiancee move a table, and he moved it, and then i said something like "of course it needs to be here and not there, i thought you knew what i was doing..." (i said it in a nice way)
and he said, "most of the time i have no idea why you're doing what you're doing".

and i realized, alot of times, i guess maybe he doesn't...
- kisses to him for putting up with my crazy stuff"

A Little Bitty Before and After, Tornados, a Broken Fridge, and Tooth Removal

I got a little wild hair this weekend and decided to hang plates all over the wall. The mirror over my sofa always looked a little barren to me... so i decided to try this, and i really like it! The "before" picture is actually a better photo, and when i look at the photos side by side, i really like the candles on the table in the "before" picture better... and the sofa pillows are less random which looks more orderly,.... But i think the platters look very pretty, and really lift the eye up adding interest to the wall... It's kind of interesting how you can see things when you look at the photo, that you're completely blind to in person. I think i will add the candles back to the coffee table, and mess with the pillows some more... probably need to wash that throw too, i think it has changed colors because it's so dirty... oops, did i just say that...

On another note... I have a few phobias, being the totally neurotic, hypersensitive whack job that i am. Two of them are Tornadoes and Going to the Dentist.... GGGAAAAHHH! So last week i was the delightful recipient of an abscessed back tooth, which hurt so bad it made my ear hurt and i couldn't eat anything and my face was itchy.. Now of course being the optimist (NOT) that i am, i thought it might go away, and heal itself... guess who was at the dentist on Friday PM, being told the tooth HAS to come out ASAP, it is infected and the root goes all the way up into my sinus... and i have to go to an oral surgeon... just shoot me... i was put on antibiotics and sent home, to wake up to TORNADOES all day Saturday. AND THEN... our Refrigerator DIED! I tried to get credit to buy one at Lowes and it was DENIED in front of at least 8,000 people. Last, to add a little more fun to the weekend.. every engine light in my car is now on... So, it's Monday, and i get to go get my tooth removed from my brain this week... if my car will make it to the dentist...

I wanted to whine to you guys about my issues and phobias and make light of it... but it's really nothing compared to what happened to some folks this weekend..
my heart goes out to the people who were injured and killed by the tornadoes this weekend
i can't even imagine what they must have gone through...

Cool Handbag at Marshalls, Check it Out...

I don't know about you, but i love me a pink handbag. They have this one at Marshalls right now, at least here in Chapel Hill, NC they do. It's great, has 3 compartments, pretty lining, a magnetic closure, a drawstring thingy, and is plenty big enough to hold my measuring tape, makeup bag, wallet, cell phone, camera, daily planner, and... ummm.. oh yeah, a vegan chocolate candy bar, and some dark chocolate covered almonds, and these crunchy sesame seed candy things, 4 valium,
( just in case) and a huge ring of keys, of which, only half of them actually go to anything... It was $49.99, so kinda pricey, but i forgive myself on handbags, because it's one of my most important tools that i use everyday...
Well, anyway, that's how i justify it...

I've seen a version of this bag at Steinmart too, so it's out there, if you like this style, keep a lookout.

Time for Pink Geraniums Everywhere!

This photo of a closeup of the mirror is just for fun...

I'm gonna put pink geraniums everywhere! This is only the beginning with this window box, i'll be adding some blue and white petunias as soon as i can find them, the little pansies won't last much longer in the heat...

Heavenly Wisteria... Just finishing up her spring show...

another architecture photo for fun...

I'm so random...

Le Toilette - Fluff, Lace and Sparkles...

Here are some photos of fluff, and lace and pretty things from the master bathroom... This is how i visually trick everyone into thinking that my house is filled with only beautiful little vignettes... what you don't see is the messy place at the sink where i put on my makeup with my 8 X mirror, (yikes! only use one of those if you're very very brave) blush stains on the carpet, the wobbly cockeyed towel holder, and the very very full closet Mr. FracturedFairyTale and I both share...

See the precious little rosette pin in the silver tray... I ordered that from Stephanie at DinkyBird Boutique, on Etsy . She makes the most amazing flowers ever, and she was kind enough to rush mine to me just in time for my brother's wedding.

My fat midsection reflected in the mirror, terrific...

Can you believe i found this little peachy lacy blousy thing at the thrift shop, it's a little gauzy jacket with one pearl button... who would give that away!?

the end....
